Jyotiraditya started his student life at the Doon School in Dehradun before completing his B.A. in Economics in Harvard University and his M.B.A. from the Stanford University. Before embarking on his political career, he worked in investment banking and private equity.

Similar to his father and preceding generations, Jyotiraditya’s focus is less on politics in the traditional sense of the term and much more on public service as a tool for achieving development. Though politics has been a constant in his life from the onset, Jyotiraditya embarked on his personal political journey in 2002 when he contested in the elections from Guna, Madhya Pradesh. He has been re-elected from Guna four times since.

Jyotiraditya’s personal and political journey has been focused on living up to the people’s expectations. For him, the electoral journey begins the day after the results are declared because his electorate has the right to judge and guide him each day until the next election. He believes that ones political portfolio or track record should not be centered around his or her own individual personality, but around the development of the region and the people he or she represents.

As a Union Minister, Jyotiraditya has handled diverse portfolios, including Communications and IT, Commerce and Industry, and Power (Independent Charge).
