Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia today ridiculed BJP for making a ‘U’ turn on many of its poll promises and principles and said the party has compromised its stand and keeping mum on Article 370 for the sake of forming a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir with PDP.
Speaking on the Motion of Thanks on President’s speech in parliament, Mr Scindia launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and said a party, which used to give sermons on following strict principle and ideology, is going back on its words.
“You are going into an alliance with PDP to form government, what is your stand on Article 370,” he questioned. BJP and PDP have entered into an alliance to form a coalition government in J&K.
Ahead of alliance formation, PDP had demanded the BJP, which won 25 seats from the Hindu-majority Jammu region, to work towards restoring the original status of Article 370, which gives special status to the region.
“He said development slogans of the Government have become cliched. “Offence is the best form of defence, a stance adopted by the ruling party which gets reflected in its actions,” Mr Scindia said in the lower house of Parliament.
